Dress Code

F or our 20th year Gotta Dance Studio has adopted a modified Dress Code. The idea of a dress code has been thoroughly researched and review by staff and parents. Below you will find our reasoning.

Why a Dress Code?

The use of a dress code greatly enhances the unity of the dance class and allows the instructor to work with the student on posture and proper alignment. Baggy clothes mask bad habits, making correction impossible. A dress code establishes good work ethic and respect. A dress code will also teach dancers discipline, helping with overall focus and energy. When dressing the part, dancers feel like dancers. Unity among dancers is created with a dress code with no one dancer standing out.
After much research and thought Gotta Dance has adopted a modified Dress Code leaving some choice to the dancer. We have adopted the Code as we believe it helps the overall experience of learning and makes for a more consistent and harmonious environment.
For all classes, hair must be pulled away from the face, preferably in a bun or pony tail. Please no loose jewelry. No gum. No T-Shirts, shorts, or tennis shoes.
We respectfully ask parents and dancers to abide by the Dress Code presented here.

First Steps—Tippy Toe Tap & Tumble—Tippy Toe Tap & Jazz

Any dance wear leotard, tights, tutu, or ballet skirt in any color
Black tap shoes—Pink Ballet Shoes

Ballet—Tap–Jazz

Leotard and tights in black, pink, or purple
Black Ballet skirt and Bootie Shorts are acceptable
Black tap shoes or oxfords—Pink Ballet or Pointe Shoes

Hip Hop

Black Capri Jazz Pants—Bootie Shorts
Pink, Purple, or Black Camisole or Gotta Dance T-Shirt
Shoes—check with instructor

Boys

Black pants or shorts
Black or white plain t-shirt
Black tap or ballet shoes

Pick out a colorful tutu or find the perfect bow. You might find fairy wings, party hats, and crowns. Tights and the correct dance shoes are a must for any dancer and you will find them there. These items are great for gifts or party favors. We have lots of fun stuff.

Have you checked out our Hair Bow Collection? They are colorful, unique, and reasonably priced. Whether you want a fun color or something for a special occasion, you will find it in the Boutique.

We have tap ties available for your little dancer. All dancers with ribbon ties should purchase these. This eliminates the lost time in class of tying shoes for those little dancers.

During recital time, you will find a variety of gifts to honor your dancer. It has long been a tradition to present a dancer with flowers or a gift after the performance. We have just the right ones for you. Stuffed animals, t-shirts, and flowers can be ordered. These gifts are ready for pickup at your dancer’s recital.

Be sure to check your dancer’s shoes. Too small shoes do not a dancer make. If you need shoes for Recital, check now, so we can order yours if we do not have your size in stock. Standard shoe requirements are listed with Classes.
