A native of Lexington, KY, Miss Dawn Freeman was educated at the University of Kentucky and the University of Arkansas. Her dance training began at an early age with Mary Jo Holland and continued with Diana Evans School of Dance, Lexington Ballet, and the University of Louisville Ballet Program. She has continued her study of dance in NYC, Las Vegas, New Orleans, Cincinnati, and Tulsa. Her advanced studies include: Dance Masters Teacher Training and Dance Educators Teacher Training. She is an accredited member of Dance Masters of American, Bluegrass Chapter and Dance Educators of America. Miss Dawn has also studied and received accreditation in the area of Children’s Protocol from the Protocol School of Washington, D. C. She became an assistant and demonstrator at the age of 12 and began her teaching career at the age of 17.
She has received many awards in the modeling and dance fields. She is a sustaining member of the Junior League of Lexington where she was awarded the “Unsung Hero” Award for her work with the Kids on the Block puppets. She is a member of Southern Hills United Methodist Church where she is a volunteer in the Children’s Department and with Hope Center for Women. She has been featured twice in Dance Teacher Magazine.
Having founded Gotta Dance Studio, Inc. in 1992, Miss Dawn continues with directing, teaching and sharing her love of the art form of dance.
